Stapelia Grandiflora (Starfish Flower)

stapelia grandiflora

Stapelia Grandiflora is a trailing plant that grows to hang over pots and hanging baskets. Flowering in early summer, this ‘Starfish Flower’ has much less of a potent odour than its sister Stapelia Gigantea. Flies are still attracted to the plant, however, though the numbers are not as high.

All Stapelias like a good amount of watering, especially in summer as they can shrivel in the heat of the summer sun. Once a week should do. However, if your plant is looking a little sad, feed with fertiliser and seaweed solution (half strength) early summer to encourage more blooms and strong root growth
