Euphorbia Tirucalli ‘Rosea’ (Fire Sticks)

firesticks-main

A fast growing Euphorbia, Firsticks is a very attractive succulent, growing past 7m tall. Commonly gardeners warn against growing Firesticks if you have, or plan to have pets. The plant is highly poisonous, the toxic latex sap can create extreme irritations to the skin and eyes and cause painful burns and temporary blindness. It is highly recommended to wear protective eyewear, gloves and long sleeves when dealing with this plant. If you have pets,  plant your Euphorbia Tirucalli ‘Firesticks’ in a tall pot that cannot be knocked over or accessed by your pet (you could also create a fence around it to keep them out.

Euphorbia Tirucalli flowers early spring with tiny inconspicuous yellow and cream coloured blooms. As seen below my native bees are enjoying its nectar.
